Building a single source of truth for roofing growth

Building a single source of truth for roofing growth
October 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

By The Coffee Shops®.

Roofers find that process, training and technology work together to create predictable growth in tight markets.

With the roofing industry navigating unpredictable landscapes this year, many business owners are struggling to maintain steady growth. Additionally, with climate concerns, global politics and consumer hesitation top of mind, it is more important than ever that roofers stay dialed in to their company's health. In an episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Adam Sand of Roofing Business Partner to discuss a challenge many contractors are facing: how to build scalable systems in a changing market.

According to Adam, the roofing industry is operating in a different environment than it was just a few years ago. Contractors can no longer rely on favorable market conditions alone and must focus on fundamentals that support long-term success.

“A lot of people are realizing that they took their eyes off of important fundamentals,” Adam said. Those fundamentals begin with creating a unified operational foundation. Roofing Business Partner helps contractors develop what Adam calls a “single source of truth” that connects sales, production, finance and marketing so leaders can make decisions from consistent information.

One of the biggest misconceptions Adam encounters is the belief that software alone can solve business challenges. Instead, he believes successful companies focus first on how technology is used. “The tool doesn't matter as much as the process in which the tool is intended to be used,” Adam pointed out.

After years of working with roofing companies, Adam identified common traits among high-performing businesses. Those findings shaped Roofing Business Partner’s approach, which centers on three pillars: tools, processes and training.

The goal is not simply to install a customer relationship management (CRM) platform or implement a new workflow. Adam said long-term success depends on employee adoption and ongoing support. Without that commitment, even the best systems can fail.

As technology and artificial intelligence continue to evolve, contractors are under increasing pressure to evaluate how their companies operate. For Adam, the answer is not chasing trends but creating a repeatable framework that supports growth regardless of market conditions. That foundation sets the stage for the next step: understanding the people behind the business and managing change in a way employees can embrace.
