Build homeowner trust with a 3M™ Roofing Technology Specialist designation

Build homeowner trust with a 3MTM Roofing Technology Specialist designation

By Jesse Sanchez.

Atlas Roofing contractors can strengthen their sales conversations by earning the 3M™ Roofing Technology Specialist designation.

When homeowners compare roofing proposals, price matters, but trust often determines who earns the job. Atlas Roofing’s 3M™ Roofing Technology Specialist designation gives contractors a verified credential backed by a widely recognized consumer brand, helping them demonstrate expertise during kitchen table conversations.

Contractors may already meet the eligibility requirements. The designation is available to those who have installed three or more roofs using Atlas shingles featuring 3M TM Scotchgard™ Protector. There is no separate application or waiting period and contractors can complete the training at their own pace through the Atlas PRO portal.

The course focuses on three technologies incorporated into Atlas shingles: ScotchgardTM Protector by 3M. 3M TM Smog-Reducing Technology and 3MTM Cool Roofing Technology. Training on Scotchgard TM Protector by 3MTM helps contractors explain how the technology supports a roof’s appearance over time. According to Atlas Roofing, ScotchgardTM Protector has been installed on more than 2 million roofs across the United States.

A second module covers 3M TM Smog-Reducing Technology, giving contractors information they can use when speaking with homeowners who are interested in sustainability. Backed by 3M, Atlas Roofing states that average sized roof has the smog-fighting capacity equivalent to two to three trees. The course also addresses 3M TM Cooling Technology. Atlas Roofing says homeowners can save up to 15% on cooling costs with qualifying shingles, as supported by the Cool Roof Rating Council.

After completing the designation, contractors receive a credential on their Find a Contractor listing and gain access to customizable marketing and sales resources within the Atlas PROTM Portal. These tools include co-branded content that contractors can personalize with their logo, contact information and images.

The designation must be renewed every two years to keep the credential active, maintain current product knowledge and preserve access to future business tools. Atlas Roofing will contact contractors before their renewal window opens.
