Blending high performance with architectural aesthetics

Blending high performance with architectural aesthetics
August 7, 2025 at 12:00 a.m.

By Emma Peterson.

Across their product lines, Westlake is leading the industry in durable roofing without sacrificing curb appeal.

One of the things we love about attending trade shows is getting to see new products and offerings firsthand. While our team attended the International Builder Show this year, we had the chance to meet with Andrew Bruns, the senior product manager for all roofing brands at Westlake Royal Building Products, to see their roofing developments in person!

Andrew first introduced us to the three new colors they are adding to their Newpoint Concrete collection – Ashen Cove, Earth & Shadow and Platinum Peak. As part of the Newpoint Concrete line, all three of these colors are not only beautiful, but high performance. Andrew explained, “All of our concrete products are Class A fire rated and come with great impact ratings, Class 3 or Class 4 depending on what profile or market you're in.” Their new color Platinum Peak also comes with a strong solar reflectivity index (SRI) rating, making it a perfect fit for markets concerned with cool roofing, such as California.

And Newpoint Concrete isn’t the only line of roofing at Westlake that blends performance with beauty. Andrew showcased some of their Stone-Coated Steel offerings as well. He shared, “Stone-Coated Steel is a really great blend of durability (with Class A fire ratings and Class 4 impact ratings) and aesthetics. We have a wide variety of aesthetic looks, from shake to more of an asphalt shingle look.”

Adding to the performance of both of these lines is the ability to incorporate Westlake’s cool roofing system with any profile. Andrew explained, “Our cool roofing system incorporates a vented heat riser, elevated battens and a vented ridge. What that does is it allows air to flow through from underneath the roof tile but above the sheathing to the ridge, where it is vented out.” The ability to incorporate the system into any profile from the Newpoint or Stone-Coated lines showcases Westlake’s ability to bring performance and aesthetics all together in just one roof!
