By Cass Jacoby, RCS Reporter.

The roofing industry supply shortage doesn’t look like it is ending anytime soon; learn how using alternative materials and recovering roofs rather than replacing can be a strong solution.

Manufacturers of building materials and products have been experiencing shortages on raw materials since 2020. Now, two years later, there still remains a backlog in demand that makes contractors feel like they are playing a non-stop game of catch up.

According to a recent  NRCA Town Hall, “The current supply shortage squeezing the roofing industry is the culmination of several factors, and not likely to end anytime soon.” As business owners, roofing contractors need to be looking at the current situation and prepare for the potential of this lasting for another year or two. So, how do you protect your business?

Many contractors are turning to what is available and how they can incorporate that into their business. They are considering new and old systems that are more readily accessible and won’t be affected by supply chain disruptions.

For example, Buildings.Com reports roof membrane shortages are making alternatives to roof replacements even more attractive. Some of these alternatives, such as roof restorations, do not require insulation that is in short supply and can offer long-term warranties.

Sikalastic® RoofPro and RoofCoat recover systems not only offer abundant material that are minimally affected by the supply chain shortage, they also offer an effective alternative to roof replacement.

“Sikalastic® RoofPro and RoofCoat recover systems are excellent choices for contractors and owners to add value and bring savings to their roofing options”

RoofPro products are currently available and can prolong the life of mod-bit, EPDM, TPO, PVC, Hypalon, metal roofs and smooth BUR roof assemblies for 20 years and up to 25 years with reinforcement. In so far as re-roofing solutions throughout the supply chain crisis, RoofPro is an excellent solution.

Don’t get caught up in supply chain issues, find better alternatives. Sikalastic RoofPro provides a seamless, durable, sustainable, maintenance-free coating that you can deliver no matter what is going on in the supply chain.
