A sneak peek into the Western Roofing Expo

Learn what General Coatings has planned for the upcoming trade show season.  

The Western Roofing Expo is right around the corner and we have been chatting with roofing industry leaders about their plans for the big show! In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips®, we spoke with Will Lorenz, president of General Coatings Manufacturing Corp, about their plans for one of the biggest industry events of the year. 

At this year’s show, spray foam education will play a big role at the General Coatings booth. The company is quite knowledgeable in what goes into a good spray foam roof, as they are partially responsible for the roof on the Las Vegas Sphere. Will told us they will emphasize the importance of quality substrate preparation. 

“You're putting down 20 mils to 60 mils of roof coating. And if it's done well, it sticks well, it performs, it does the tasks that you want it to do,” he said. “But if it's marginal or if we don't really explain well the techniques of how to apply it, then we can all see issues.” 

With so many speakers and events taking place at the show, an industry expert like Will offers great insight into what to look out for. At this year’s show, he is interested in any speaking events that John Kenney, CEO of Cotney Consulting Group, and Trent Cotney, partner at Adams & Reese, are doing. But ultimately, he is most looking forward to the general sense of community these industry expos create. 

“I think we're hoping for a lot of folks to show up to Las Vegas and be a part of it,” he said. “We think it's been a good last couple of years. Roofers seem to come to Vegas, enjoy life and hear about next technologies and good companies, and we hope to be a part of that discussion with them.”
