Why Wouldn’t You Use a Product That Speeds up Installation While Maintaining Quality?

With the labor shortage being faced by the roofing industry, it’s more important than ever to be sure the crews that you have are working as efficiently as possible while maintaining quality.

Joe Barragan is an operations manager with CentiMark Corporation who understands the value of efficiency on the jobsite. With the labor shortage being faced by the roofing industry, it’s more important than ever to be sure the crews that you have are working as efficiently as possible.

That’s one of the reasons that he chooses Acme Cone prefabricated custom flashings on his jobs. When Barragan had crews on a job in San Francisco with angle iron supports that were taking over an hour to wrap, he reached out to Acme Cone with drawings and measurements.  They quickly fabricated the flashings and sent them to the jobsite. His crew was able to wrap those supports in 20 minutes.

“It might seem like you are adding cost to a project, but we have done the math and found that it’s given us a tremendous amount in labor savings,” explained Barragan. “When there is a boot that takes an hour to flash and we can reduce that to a 20-minute install, that is 40 extra minutes we get to be moving the job along.”

Barragan said that his crews are very happy as well – and they have done it both ways – in the field and prefabricated. “I had a former manager that preferred the crew field flash every support and the new one believes in using the prefabricated flashings on each job,” he said. “The team in the field is much happier using the prefabricated flashings and we see the jobs coming in a lot quicker now.”

He also likes to use Acme Cone for scuppers and has noticed a tremendous time savings. “I just send over the size and dimension and the product comes with the flange already on there, saving us a lot of time.”
