Understanding AI, piece by piece

Artificial intelligence may seem like a nebulous and ominous shift in our world, but at its core it is just another tool. 

Every day there seems to be a new piece of technology that is heralded to be world changing. It can be difficult to keep track of which innovations are worth the investment to boost your business. In this episode of Roofing Road Trips ®, Danny Braught visited Heidi J. Ellsworth to talk about AI and why this is one piece of tech worth investing your time in.  

Danny is with LMH Agency, or Lokal Media House. He explained a bit of their history, saying, “We've been in business since 2014, helping everything from large businesses down to your mom-and-pop contractor shop over the years.” They do this by leveling up these businesses’ marketing using search engine optimization, web development and, more recently, incorporation of AI.  

Danny explained the basic theory behind leveraging AI in your business, “The thing to understand is that you're training something and its intelligence.” His point was that AI is not the intelligent, job-stealing technology we see in science fiction, instead it’s just another development of tools we already have – such as Google. One of the uses for AI that is already being more widely incorporated is the use of automatic note taking. Danny spoke of how this can go further, sharing, “The automation of being able to use AI in your business makes you and the people within your business more efficient.”  

AI can be incredibly useful for making the busy work more efficient and allowing you and your team to spend your talents and energy on the important things. But learning to use it can be intimidating. The good news is that Danny and LMH Agency have contractor’s backs! They provide multiple free eBooks for contractors to learn about incorporating technology, including but not limited to AI, into their business practices. Danny explained, “The eBook is sent to you in little steps. You can take 30 minutes out of your day, 20 minutes out of your day and do these optimizations.” By organizing these complicated topics into smaller, bite-sized pieces, Danny hopes to help contractors “learn how to work with AI instead of working against it.”
