Learn how training can set your business apart in the growing pool and spa market.

Technavio reports that the global swimming pool market is estimated to grow “by USD 7.28 billion from 2025-2029.” In response to this rising demand, we have seen the pool and spa service sector expand rapidly. As the industry as a whole grows more competitive, it is more important now than ever to invest in the proper training and education of your team for the opportunities ahead.

Investing in training and education for topics like technical knowledge, safety protocols and business management offers pool and spa businesses a variety of advantages. In an article for the International Pool Spa Service Association (IPSSA)’s newsletter, Penny Gaumond writes, “Technicians who invest in their education stay competitive — offering higher-quality service, faster problem-solving and better customer satisfaction.”

To help you find the right resources to boost your team’s knowledge and your company’s performance, we have collected a variety of education resources from the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA):

  • Upgrade technical skills with certification: Manufacturers are constantly innovating new pool technology and products. The best way to keep up with this is to invest in workshops and certification courses that showcase the newest equipment and explain industry shifts. A great resource for this is PHTA’s professional certifications.
  • Keeping up with chemistry: Chemistry is at the heart of pool and spa maintenance. In order to best serve customers and create safe water environments, it is key for pool technicians to have a strong grasp of factors like the “chemical balance, sanitation systems, and alternative sanitizers like ozone and UV.” If you are looking for a way to level up your pool chemistry knowledge, PHTA hosts water chemistry courses that can help!
  • Boost your business: Beyond technical and workmanship skills, business management skills are key for success in the pool industry. Some good questions to ask yourself include: Is the business management system as efficient as possible? Do we have a marketing plan?  How do we engage our customers? If you don’t have answers to these questions, it might be time to check out some courses about business management. If you’re looking for an accessible way to attend these, PHTA’s webinar series is a great resource.
  • Check your compliance: Another big aspect of running a pool and/or spa company is making sure you are compliant with safety standards and regulations. These are constantly evolving and keeping up to date with them is not just a good idea, but a necessary one. A great resource for keeping your team trained in the most up-to-date safety and compliance news is PHTA’s CPO courses.

Explore PHTA’s entire portfolio of courses for more training resources. IPSSA also partners with a variety of industry organizations to connect professionals to more learning opportunities. Learn more about these partners on their website
