Speed, strength and simplicity for commercial flat roof projects

Speed, strength and simplicity for commercial flat roof projects

See how FAR is reinventing roof restoration with fiber-infused, sprayable technology.

Fluid Applied Roofing (FAR) stands out by cutting through complexity, reducing installation errors and making contractors’ jobs significantly easier. Sonny Arwood, CEO and founder of FAR, started his career on the roof, using his hands-on experience to shape the company’s mission. In a live interview during FRSA 2025, Sonny discussed the development of his products and how they were designed with the contractor in mind.

“I started as a contractor in the early ‘90s,” Sonny shared. “I installed a lot of products and through that I learned some things that I liked and didn’t like, so I decided to launch a new product line through those experiences that I felt would innovate and make some positive changes in the market to make contractor’s lives a bit easier.”

FAR was built around the idea that leak-proofing shouldn’t be the weakest part of a roof restoration. Traditional detailing methods can be cumbersome and time-consuming, not to mention prone to failure. FAR’s fiber-reinforced, sprayable membrane improves speed, consistency and confidence in application. Sonny explained, “We came up with fiber-infused, sprayable technology that allows contractors to stand, spray and apply about 10-15 times faster than traditional applications. We took the risk and installation error out of the equation.”

FiberSeal Base forms a seamless, durable barrier across the entire flat roof surface. The fiber component not only enhances strength but also reinforces the system’s ability to withstand movement and prevent leaks. This product recently earned the People's Choice Award in the Coatings, Caulks and Sealants category from the IRE's 2025 Innovative Product Showcase and Awards! The company continues to push boundaries to provide products that fill a need in the industry.

“We spend a lot of time educating our team on roofing, not just our products, but more generally, so they can actually speak the contractor’s language,” Sonny continued. “We look at risk mitigation, speed of application, reduction of labor – it's about showing what our products can really bring to their business.”
