Roofing Road Trips with Heidi Welcomes Tremco’s Phillip Harris

Roofing Road Trip with Phillip Harris
March 25, 2020 at 10:50 a.m.

By Karen L. Edwards, RCS Editor.

Phillip lives and breathes safety every day in his job.

In this episode, RoofersCoffeeShop partner Heidi Ellsworth visits with Phillip Harris, who work for Tremco Roofing & Building Maintenance as a product manager focusing on the company’s safety solutions. With travel restrictions in place, this road trip was a virtual one with Heidi and Phillip each working from their home offices.

We’ve shared with you previously that Tremco has a strong focus on safety. In fact, a previous Roofing Road Trips featured an interview with Shari Carlozzi, WTI* Safety Services Director and NWIR Executive Committee Past Chair, who talked with Heidi in depth about the Safety Service Representatives at Tremco.

This conversation explores the role of a safety solutions product manager and how safety solutions are developed. Phillip shared that the company philosophy is to “Lead with Safety.” The Tremco Roofing team wears bracelets that state ‘lead with safety, end with family.’ This is especially true now with the coronavirus pandemic that we are facing.

As a product manager for safety, Phillip explains that he is “the individual who identifies the customer's need and the larger business objectives that that product will fulfill.” He said that he works closely with partners, research and development, and sales teams to ensure that the solutions being developed are needed in the market.

Phillip shares that it’s important for a roof to be safe at all times, not just when a roofing crew is on site. There are other trades, facility managers and others that may at times access the roof. His team develops the safety solutions that ensure the roof complies with all necessary standards.

Listen to the full conversation to learn how contractors can bring these solutions to their customers.

*WTI is a subsidiary of Tremco Incorporated
