Roofing Alliance and Clemson University roofing training program

Train, retain and grow your team's skills with this flexible online professional development program.

Whether you're a long time roofing pro or an amateur in the field, taking the opportunity for training is a smart investment in your career longevity. The Roofing Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to elevating the roofing profession, has teamed up with Clemson University in South Carolina to deliver flexible, self-paced courses designed to advance individuals, teams and the industry as a whole. 

About the program

The Roofing Alliance-Clemson Training Program is a three-course program under Clemson University's Nieri Department of Construction, Development and Planning desgined to help companies train, retain and grow their workforce while maintaining exceptional quality and managing costs. Courses take about eight hours to complete with up to 60 days to do so, allowing partipants to fit the program into their schedules.

The three courses are as follows:

  • Course #1: Roofing Fundamentals provides a comprehensive understanding of roofing construction including assembly, blueprints, specifications, estimating, safety, repair, maintenance and technology.
  • Course #2: Roofing Management builds on Course #1 and covers building codes, sustianability, risk management, quality control, quality assurance, field crew management, roof scheduling, site logistics and roofing equipment.
  • Course #3: Roofing Business Principles and Leadership gives particpants the information needed to be an entrepreneur in the roofing industry, including leadership and organizational culture; negotiation; starting a roofing business; sustaining a roofing business; procurement and resource sourcing; sales and marketing; and innovation in the roofing industry.

Anyone interested in learning the essentials of roofing or refining the best practices of running a roofing busienss — students, experienced professionals and anyone in between — is encouraged to enroll. These courses are also an excellent tool for onboarding, professional development and cross-training employees. 

Upon completion of each course and passing the final exam with a score of 75% or better, participants will earn the Roofing Professional Management Certificate of Completion issued jointly by Clemson University and the Roofing Alliance, recognizing comprehensive knowledge across the roofing profession and a commitment to ongoing education.

Each course is $795, but Roofing Alliance members receive $300 off per course and NRCA members receive $100 off per course. Groups can also benefit from bulk pricing discounts. Contact the Roofing Alliance at roofingalliance@nrca.net  to request your discount codes.
