Marlon Cruz originally wanted to be a police officer. His initial calling was to serve, protect and give back to the community. In many ways, as the shop manager and production manager with EZ Exteriors LLC, Marlon is fulfilling that dream.
Through his hands-on work in logistics, production and project execution on jobsites in Idaho and Wyoming, Marlon is giving back to his community. He’s connecting with people and making sure their homes are protected from the elements. And, for the past five years he’s helped his team at EZ Exteriors provide much-needed roofing services in remote areas of the country. All of this while building a meaningful and fulfilling career.
Marlon, what is your company known for in the marketplace?
EZ Exteriors stands out because of our unwavering commitment to quality and responsibility to our homeowners. We pride ourselves on clear, consistent communication throughout the entire project, strong work ethic from every team member and taking ownership of our work from start to finish. Homeowners know they can trust us to do what we say we’ll do — and to do it right.
About how long has your company been installing DaVinci Roofscapes products?
We started installing DaVinci products approximately three years ago in our area.
How are composite roofing projects helping grow your business?
Composite roofing has significantly expanded our reach, allowing us to take on even more specialized and high-end projects. It has helped us grow farther into Wyoming and Montana.
What makes EZ Exteriors recommend DaVinci products over competitive composite products?
DaVinci stands out because of the wide variety of colors, products styles and installation styles available over other competitors.
What’s one of your favorite DaVinci projects that EZ Exteriors has done and why?
One of my favorite projects is the golf villas project in Montana, which includes seven units. The setting is incredible, and the combination of composite DaVinci roofing with metal roofing elements created a beautiful contrast. The way the materials complement the surrounding landscape really showcases how versatile composite roofing can be.
How have you been able to get composite products accepted into an HOA community?
Sample tiles are a huge selling point, especially in HOA-driven markets like the Jackson, Wyoming area. Many homes there traditionally had wood shake roofs, and as those roofs age, homeowners are required to transition to fire-rated materials due to WUI regulations.
DaVinci becomes the clear solution — it satisfies fire marshal requirements while still maintaining the traditional look HOAs want. Being able to physically show DaVinci samples helps HOA boards and homeowners visualize the end result and feel confident in the approval process.
Marlon, if someone gave you $5 million and you had to spend it within 24 hours, what would you do?
A major passion of mine is sports. I currently referee Division 1 athletics, with soccer being my favorite. If given the opportunity, I would invest in building a soccer complex to help meet the growing need in our area. It would create opportunities for youth development, community engagement and long-term growth for the sport.
