Derek Davenport is still in the “honeymoon stage” of his roofing career… and that may never end. As the commercial director with Pinpoint Roofing LLC for the past three years, Derek has embraced every aspect of the business and thrives on being part of the Pinpoint Roofing team.
“If someone told me I had to change professions tomorrow, that would be really tough because I genuinely love what I do,” says Derek. “I enjoy being involved from concept to completion and seeing a project come to life from a set of blueprints. That’s why I really like the new construction side of our commercial business.”

About how long has your company been installing DaVinci products?
Our owner has been installing DaVinci Roofscapes products since the early 2000s, along with other composite roofing products. After learning more about DaVinci’s manufacturing process — using all virgin materials with no recycled plastic polymers — we made a commitment to use DaVinci over anything else.
How are these composite roofing products helping grow your business?
DaVinci roofing products have opened a new door for our business. When you have a premium product and a skilled installation team, it becomes an easy sell to homeowners who want the slate or shake look without the maintenance challenges of natural materials.

What’s one of your favorite DaVinci projects that your company has done and why?
That’s easy. My favorite project to date is the Pigeon Forge Fire Station and Special Ops building. It’s truly a work of art — from the stone and shake siding to the copper gutters and downspouts, capped off with DaVinci Single-Width Slate roofing. We’re really proud of the installation work our team did on this project. And, we’re excited that we’ll continue our installation work on the new Pigeon Forge Police Station in 2026.
How have you been able to get composite products accepted into HOA communities?
Fortunately, we haven’t run into any issues with HOAs so far. DaVinci is a high-end brand that’s hard not to appreciate once you see it installed.
Some roofers say that sample tiles close the sale. Why do you think this happens?
I agree completely. Most of my residential DaVinci sales close once homeowners see the product in person. If someone is looking for a slate or shake look, the quality and realism of the DaVinci samples really sell themselves.
If someone gave you $5 million and you had to spend it within 24 hours, what would you do?
I’d make an investment in this business, set my family up for the future and put a portion toward giving back to the community that’s supported our growth.
