Refining your process of subcontractor management

RCSI - Feb - Refining your process of subcontractor management
February 14, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.

RCS Influencer Allison Woslager says a thorough vetting process, continuous oversight and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work is key to a successful subcontractor relationship.

At Integrity PNW, the selection and management of subcontractors is a process we approach with meticulous attention to ensure alignment with our company's standards for work and our client goals, thereby minimizing risks to our clients. We are a small marketing agency and while it is rare for us to employ subcontractors, when the need arises, we implement a comprehensive vetting process.

Firstly, we verify the licensing and insurance of all subcontractors. This step is crucial to ensure they are legally permitted to perform the work and are adequately insured. This not only protects them but also safeguards our agency and clients from potential risks or liabilities.

Secondly, we conduct thorough checks on references. By speaking with past clients or employers, we gain insights into the subcontractor’s work history, reliability and professionalism. This process helps us evaluate whether their standards of service align with the high expectations we hold for our own team.

Additionally, we assess the quality of their workmanship. This involves reviewing their past projects and, if possible, conducting evaluations of ongoing work. This hands-on approach allows us to directly gauge their expertise, attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.

Once a subcontractor is engaged, our oversight does not end. We maintain regular communication on any digital services they might be performing for us and conduct periodic reviews. This ensures ongoing alignment with our project objectives and compliance with our company's protocols. Our team works closely with subcontractors to provide guidance and support, ensuring they are well-integrated into our project management framework.

In summary, our approach to managing subcontractors is grounded in a thorough vetting process, continuous oversight and a commitment to maintaining high standards of work. This approach helps us mitigate risks and ensure that subcontractors’ contributions positively reflect our agency's reputation for excellence.
