Rachel Narveson: QXO’s 2025 Female Roofing Pro of the Year

Rachel shares her journey in roofing, winning the 2025 Female Roofing Pro of the Year and the importance of women in the trades.  

In a new Roofing Road Trips® episode, Megan Ellsworth chats with Rachel Narveson, founder and CEO of Proficient Construction, winner of QXO’s 2025 North American Female Roofing Professional of the Year award. In their conversation, she shares what it means to be a woman making strides in the roofing industry and how women are making positive differences in the trades. 

Proficient Construction is a full-service construction company based out of two locations in Minnesota, St. Paul and Minneapolis. Rachel explains, “We don't just do roofing, though it is probably our biggest bread and butter. We also have an interior team that does additions, remodels, kitchens, bathrooms and more. And then we have a deck division as well that's been expanding. We also do commercial,  siding, gutters andwindows.” 

For her, winning the QXO’s 2025 North American Female Roofing Professional of the Year award is a huge honor that she’s still surprised by. She shares, “I know a lot of other contractors, a lot of females in the industry and so being up against some of these really big powerhouse women, it's a huge honor to win.” But even more than that, it makes her recall being 17 and not knowing that she was going to fall in love with construction. “I worked for a little small family run business, a construction company, did various roles. And that family really took me under their wing and taught me the different trade about the trades. And that’s where I really fell in love with construction,” she adds.  

Rachel hopes that awards like this will help young women see a career for themselves in the trades. She explains, “The trades are not a common thing that most women think about, but there's so many different careers there... QXO, they do a really good job showcasing women in construction. They are a huge partner with proficient construction and it's cool that they really want to see more education in front of women and helping them get into the trades." She wants young women, like her at 17, to see themselves in her, the other nominees and winners of this award and see a potential path for themselves.
