PVC systems built for demanding roofs

PVC roofing combines chemical resistance, installation flexibility and coordinated system components for commercial projects facing demanding conditions.
Commercial roofs must face far more than the worst of everyday weather. Grease, chemicals, rooftop traffic and changing conditions around a building can all influence how a commercial roofing system performs over time.
IB Roof Systems™ PVC line is designed around those challenges, with membrane options and coordinated components intended for durability, system compatibility and long-term performance.
The company’s brochure outlines a PVC offering that includes 50-, 60- and 80-mil membranes in smooth and fleece-back configurations, along with Ketone Ethylene Ester (KEE)-enhanced options for projects requiring greater chemical resistance. That added resilience is one of the characteristics Jamie Treglio of IB Roof Systems highlighted when discussing the membrane. “PVC is going to give you the single-ply ease of installation. But what it’s going to add is this extra resilience to chemicals.”
That performance can be especially relevant on restaurants, industrial facilities, healthcare environments, schools, data centers and other commercial buildings where chemical exposure or demanding rooftop conditions are a concern. The brochure also identifies resistance to grease and harsh environments, flexibility in extreme climates and a coated scrim designed to prevent water absorption among the system’s performance features.
Fire resistance can also be an important consideration on working roofs, including data centers and cold storage facilities. Jamie pointed to PVC’s response when a flame source is removed, explaining, “PVC is resistant to fire. So say something goes wrong, it is going to put itself out once the flame source is removed.” That characteristic adds another consideration for commercial projects where rooftop conditions can place additional demands on the system.
Installation characteristics are another part of the equation. Jamie noted what contractors appreciate about the membrane, sharing, “They really like the hand of our sheet. It’s flexible. It’s easy for them to make those tight details where it needs to, the weldability of our sheet comes in handy for them.”
The membrane can also be paired with insulation and polyiso options, coverboards, vapor barriers, heat-weldable accessories, custom-fabricated components and liquid flashing solutions. IB Roof Systems supports those assemblies with installation guidance, specification libraries, code compliance assistance, technical support and commercial warranties available for up to 30 years.
