Pushing the Boundaries of Modified Bitumen

Polyglass Pushing the Boundaries
March 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

Swing by this booth at the virtual IRE to see what cutting-edge manufacturing really means.

Polyglass is a global leading manufacturer of modified bitumen roofing and waterproofing membranes and roof coatings for low- and steep-slope applications. While using the most technologically advanced manufacturing facilities, Polyglass provides value through consistent innovation.

At this year’s virtual IRE, Polyglass will be available to talk  with contractors about their wide portfolio of products and their revolutionary manufacturing processes.

ADESO® Technology

The advent of ADESO® Technology changed the modified bitumen industry forever. Manufactured using true APP or SBS formulations, ADESO® Technology created dual-compound self-adhered (SA) membranes with a top weathering side and an aggressive self-adhered base reinforcement. This innovative approach supplements lap sealing through its integration with patented features, also allowing for a variety of customizable surfaces for an enhanced product design.

Research & Development

The advanced technologies, bonding methods and revolutionary self-adhered membranes were all created by Polyglass’ multidisciplinary Research & Development team comprised of chemists, material scientists, chemical, civil and mechanical engineers as well as Ph.Ds. These important members of the Polyglass community are equipped with the best analytical and physical testing equipment available, allowing them to create innovative products and systems that push the boundaries of current modified bitumen products and manufacturing processes.

Other innovative products and systems include:

  • CURE Technology®. This patented thin film technology greatly improves modified bitumen performance without compromising the expected value of Polyglass products.

  • Blue Cure Technology™. An original Polyglass creation that aims to speed up drying and cure time for Polyglass’ Turbo-Set Advanced Liquid Membrane System. This additive was designed specifically for the single coat system and in 20 minuets makes the membrane rain resistant.

  • PolyFlash® 1C. This one-component, silane modified polyurethane flashing compound was created for the use of sealing and waterproofing roofing details, flashings and penetrations on a wide variety of roofing systems.

  • Velociflex Roofing System. These independently tested systems provide high speed wind protection, up to 270 pounds per square foot! The product is made with two plies of modified bitumen membranes, a “loose-laid” base sheet and mechanically attached side laps, which grants a more efficient installation.

  • POLYSTICK® Self-Adhered Underlayments. All products in the Polystick family of self-adhered underlayments are manufactured using ADESO® Technology and can be implemented for a variety of roof applications.

  • ADESO® Self-Adhered Membranes. With this product category, Polyglass continues to succeed in staying a step ahead of the competition. The latest generation of SelfAdhered (SA) membranes are all manufactured with patented ADESO® Technology and are comprised of some of the most innovative modified bitumen roofing products currently available in the industry.

  • Turbo-Set®. Reduce labor costs and cut roof coating installation time in half with this two-component, water-based liquid membrane system. Featuring Polyglass’ Blue Cure Technology™, this additive can be applied in a single coat to create a monolithic roof system over varying substrate.

Learn more about all of these products by visiting Polyglass’ booth at the virtual IRE event.
