Mastering the Simplified Design of Shallow Post and Pier Foundation Systems

NFBA Mastering the Simplified Design
September 4, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

 By Anna Lockhart.

NFBA has provided an in-depth virtual webinar course highlighting key post-frame engineering methods and terminology in an accessible way.

The National Frame Building Association (NFBA) is dedicated to providing informational resources and educational opportunities that promote the interests of the post-frame construction industry for their members and the general public. Their free ongoing educational webinar series, the Post-Frame Advantage Online University, aims to educate participants in the basics of post-frame construction and other industry-related subjects.

Earlier this year, the NFBA hosted an educational webinar in this series titled, “Simplified Method for Shallow Post and Pier Foundation Design Details.” Led by University of Missouri Professor Joseph Zulovich, PhD., this webinar highlighted the basics of the simplified method used in designing shallow posts and pier foundations.

Participating attendees learned how to design shallow posts and pier foundations so that they adequately resist bearing and uplift loads by using the simplified method. They discussed when and how the simplified method should be used in designs, as well as how to determine ground line shear and moment in shallow posts and pier foundation systems when using the simplified method. Dr. Zulovich also covers how to determine design embedment depths for shallow post and pier foundation systems using the simplified method.

In this webinar, Dr. Zulovich presents these concepts in a clear and easy-to-comprehend manner, perfect for the remote learner looking for an opportunity to expand their knowledge of post-frame engineering practices and the industry itself.

Watch the recorded webinar from the NFBA to learn more about post-frame systems and the simplified method of design for shallow post and pier foundation systems!

About the National Frame Building Association (NFBA)

The National Frame Building Association (NFBA) is a non-profit association that promotes the post-frame construction industry and its members. They were founded in 1969 when a group of Midwestern builders came together to protect the future of post-frame construction amid changing building codes. Today, they are the only trade association focused on post-frame construction professionals and advocate for their more than 800 member companies through research, education and code development.
