Making a strategic leap into the U.S. roofing market

Making a strategic leap into the U.S. roofing market

Acquisition signals a deeper push into PVC systems and single-ply roofing solutions.

Kingspan, a global insulation and building envelope leader based in Kingscourt, Ireland, has announced its acquisition of Grapevine, Texas-based IB Roof Systems™ — marking the company’s first direct move into the U.S. single-ply roofing market.

The deal, signals more than just a corporate buyout. IB Roof Systems, known for its PVC membrane solutions and direct-to-contractor delivery model, gives Kingspan an immediate foothold in a niche but growing segment of the roofing industry.

Jason Stanley, CEO of IB Roof Systems, will continue to lead the company and retain a partial ownership stake. “I am proud of the legacy our family has built at IB and am truly excited about the next chapter,” Jason said. “Kingspan’s culture and customer focus strongly aligns with IB Roof Systems’ values.”

IB Roof Systems has long served its customers by providing full low-slope roof systems including membranes, insulation and accessories. With this acquisition, Kingspan is expanding its U.S. operations by investing in manufacturing facilities in Oklahoma and Maryland, focused on producing TPO membranes and polyiso insulation boards.

The move is a calculated one for Kingspan. While it has made global strides in modular building envelopes and insulation technologies, the U.S. single-ply market has remained largely untapped until now. According to Donal Curtin, managing director of Kingspan’s Roofing & Waterproofing Division, the acquisition provides “an excellent development platform.”

IB’s strength in the renovation sector complements Kingspan’s presence in the commercial and industrial new-build space, creating a dual-market pipeline with long-term potential.

The acquisition also comes at a time when the construction industry is under pressure to modernize digitally and sustainably. “IB’s team has built a trusted reputation for delivering premium roof systems and gives us an excellent development platform,” said Donal. “We look forward to welcoming the IB team to the Kingspan family and to supporting and investing in their future growth.”
