Maintain Your Reputation for Quality and Use an Underlayment That Lasts

MBTechnology Underlayment that Lasts

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

Try the flexible Layfast SBS Modified Fiberglass and watch as it exceeds your (and your customers) expectations.

As a contractor, your reputation matters. Using the best products that match your customer's needs and your own is the best way to maintain that reputation and acquire loyalty within your customer base. While your client won’t notice the difference between using Layfast SBS modified fiberglass reinforced underlayment and another type of base initially, they will realize this difference when their roof lasts for many years to come.

MBTechnology’s Layfast SBS underlayment is an SBS modified fiberglass reinforced base that can be used instead of felt or other types of bases. It is ideal for tile, shake and shingle and the Layfast SBS underlayment exceeds physical requirements outlined in ASTM D226.

This product is a perfect upgrade from the common 30/40# felt and leaves roofs beautiful and leak-free. Below are just a few reasons why the Layfast SBS is superior to felt base options:

  • It’s versatile. It’s ICC approved (Report ESR-2799) and ideal for tile, shake and shingles. It can also be used for/with Torch SBS and BUR. applications.

  • It’s economical. By spending a little more on a product for your customers you can secure more jobs knowing customers will appreciate you keeping their best interests in mind.

  • There’s less decomposition. The fiberglass reinforced (inorganic) composition doesn’t decompose like felt. This means less drippage and better protection.

  • There’s more elastic. This product contains SBS rubberized asphalt, which creates a more pliable and elastic membrane. This helps to minimizes buckles and wrinkles and lays flatter and smoother on the first application, saving you time.

  • It’s durable. Side laps will not curl up over time and the product does not scuff or tear easily. It’s overall less susceptible to damage.

  • It’s adaptable. Layfast SBS can be applied to steep or flat roofs.

  • It's warranty. Layfast SBS is available with 10-15-20 & 30 year warranty.

By adding SBS rubber to asphalt, you get a product with an elastomeric property, something unavailable in common felt. The Layfast SBS also contains more asphalt for increased waterproofing protection. The inorganic fiberglass reinforcement completely eliminates rot and deterioration associated with saturated felt and allows up to 90-degree bends (in ambient temperature) without cracking or fracturing.

Exceed your customers' expectations by using Layfast SBS modified fiberglass reinforced underlayment and see if it takes your next underlayment project to the next level.
