August 13, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.

By Cass Jacoby.

IKO announced innovations for better severe weather protection at the 2022 International Roofing Expo live from the RCS Sound Stage.

IKO has had a busy pandemic! Committed to returning to IRE in-person and with a bang, booth 1909 made many announcements about their product innovations, breaking the news on their new U.S. TPO low slope line and a new Class 3 impact resistant rating on its post popular residential shingle ratings during a live interview at the RoofersCoffeeShop sound stage.  IKO now offers two of its Designer Shingles lines, Armourshake™ and Crowne Slate™, with a Class 4 impact resistance rating, adding to their beautiful designs and industry-leading performance an unmatched durability. Armourshake and Crowne Slate deliver the ultimate in weather protection for estate homes and other high-caliber properties that mimics the look and feel of natural slate tiles or cedar shakes.

“Now you have a top a performance shingle and on top of that, beautiful colors and on top of that, now you just gave them another benefit to enhance their homes.” Carol Perkins told interview.

“Our Nordic shingles have always been Class 4 impact resistance rating. Class 4 being the highest. And our Dynasty shingles, which have never before carried an impact resistance rating, are now Class 3 certified,” Jack Gottesman tells RCS. “Performance continues to be at the center of everything that we do; introducing the Class 3 designation for Dynasty is really, really exciting.”

With this new Class 3 impact resistance rating, IKO’s acclaimed Dynasty® premium-quality laminated performance shingles are even better than before, ensuring improved protection from inclement weather.  “I know severe weather,” says Carol.  “Severe weather events are going to keep happening and we're prepared for it. That's why we took one of our top-performing products and had it rated.”

Plus, these shingles all come with ArmourZone,  “ArmourZone reinforced band behind that wide nailing strip that's on the face of the shingle, the reinforced band you can find on the back,” explains Jack. This fortifies the nail zone to help resist tears and blow-offs. Paired with a 1 ¼-inch nailing zone to create an enlarged nailing area for a faster for easier and more accurate installation.

Matching these new features with IKO’s True Square Advantage and FastLock™ sealant means these shingles are designed to stay in place in extremely high winds, as well as always match a true roofing square that creates a look that homeowners will love. Get properly introduced to the new and improved Dynasty shingle, and see why people are saying performance never looked so good.

“On top of that, we have our new IKO commercial, which is our TPO product line,” Carol announced at the RCS soundstage. Expanding IKO’s commercial low slope roofing to the U.S, the company is now offering commercial innovations with their InnoviTPO Single-Ply Roofing Systems.

IKO’s new TPO line is a great opportunity for residential contractors interested in getting into the commercial side of roofing, offering them the ability to foray into commercial with the manufacturer who they know and trust to support them in being successful in their business.

IKO InnoviTPO single-ply roofing membranes are the culmination of breakthrough processing technologies and a proprietary weathering formulation, known as MATRIX™. Riding on this advanced formulation IKO InnoviTPO is designed to withstand the harshest and most accelerated climate simulations.

That’s not even mentioning IKO’s innovative new CodePlus Performance Program.  highly integrated installation system for residential roofing helps homes withstand high winds and other natural threats.

Available exclusively to IKO ROOFPRO™ Select and Craftsman Premier members, IKO announced that CodePlus uses purpose-designed IKO products to take roof performance above and beyond building code requirements.  ROOFPRO contractors who earn CodePlus status will gain exclusive access to business and marketing tools designed to help drive sales to this new system. The system is also backed by IKO’s best warranty.

“We have taken performance shingles and accessories and created a roof system that's going to benefit contractors and homeowners, make people feel more safe underneath their IKO roof,” says Jack.
