Is Silicone the Answer to Supply Chain Stress?

EVERROOF EVER-SILIC
August 17, 2022 at 9:00 a.m.

By Cass Jacoby, RCS Reporter.

How contractors can utilize silicone products on the roof to gain some control over supply chain issues.

In an episode of The Roofing Road Trips podcast, Will Lorenz, VP of sales at EVERROOF tells RCS all about how useful silicone roof products can be to roofing contractors. A proven product, silicone makes for an appealing roofing material for a number of reasons — it is cost-effective, high-performing, durable and requires minimal upkeep. However, chief among silicone’s attractive qualities is that it is an accessible and versatile product.

While the past few years have been challenging due to supply chain issues, silicone remains available and a viable alternative for many building owners. “People are trying to put on a roof with whatever is available,” says Will. “What we're seeing in the marketplace is some of the other traditional new construction membranes aren't available, they [contractors] are going to cost-effective and sustainable solutions such as silicone.”

As more membranes become unavailable, cost-effective solutions, like adding silicone to roofing, projects is an excellent way for contractors to deliver a high-performing product that meets the building owners’ needs regardless of supply chain issues.

“With the disruptions that have been going on in the last two years, people are looking to keep their roof functional,” Will says. “When you have a membrane roof or an old BUR roof, and there's not new materials available to tear off and start over, the silicone restoration is a solid roof system that you can put on quite easily.”

As supply chain issues continue, many contractors are turning to what is available and how they can incorporate that into their business. Adding silicone to their offerings is a great solution for roofers looking to build up their business throughout this time. “Right now, people, they want their places watertight, and we're prepared to do the best we can to give them the product to work,” says Will. “Of the roof solutions that are out there, silicone by EVERROOF is that solution.”
