Our thoughts and prayers are with the Williams family and Tidwell Roofing & Sheet Metal following the passing of Charles (Charlie) Williams on May 19. He was 26 years old.
Charlie graduated from York High School in 2018, where his passion for mechanical repair and construction blossomed. Charlie maintained go-karts for Just Fun Amusements, repaired small engines for Len’s Ace Hardware and was learning the sheet metal trade at Tidwell Roofing & Sheet Metal.
Charlie had a huge heart and took pride in helping others. He was kind and charismatic, and his generosity was felt by everyone he knew. Whether he was bringing donuts and coffee to his coworkers or teaching children how to fish, Charlie always found ways to appreciate others and to share his knowledge and experience.
Charlie was shy until you got to know him, and then he was a cheerful chatterbox and an enthusiastic storyteller with endless tales about his love of cars, tools, music and fishing. Perch Lake was Charlie’s happy place. Fishing, boating, kayaking, hiking, picking blueberries, swimming, Yahtzee, archery and homemade meals with family, every July. It was where Charlie would completely disconnect and where he found peace and tranquility. It was his heaven on earth, and now he’s gone home.
