It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Ranum.

Kenny Ranum (80) passed away peacefully at home in Lakewood, Colorado on May 18, 2023.

Kenny, “Big Dog, Wildman, Ken the Legend, Ranco,” was the owner of Ranco Roofing. Established in 1975 and successful for over 30 years.

He loved roofing, motorcycles, trail riding, ice racing, Nascar, motors, camping and antique cars. Ken was a master storyteller and loved being with people and making them laugh.

Born May 5, 1943, in Denver, Colorado to Lewis and Wilma Ranum. Ken and Glenda were married on June 16, 1973, at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Denver, Colorado. Ken graduated from North High School in 1961 and attended Colorado University in Boulder. In 1963, Ken toured Europe for one year. Ken served in the US Armed Forces from 1965 to 1969. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for his meritorious service as Weapons Mechanic, 120th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Republic of Vietnam. Ken also obtained his Private Pilot’s license and SCCA Racing license.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Ranum, his daughter, Laura Kennedy and her husband, Jonathan; his sons, Michael Ranum and Phillip Ranum; and four awesome grandchildren: Zaven, Andrew, Jonny and Bella. Ken was proceeded in death by his son, Andrew Ranum; his parents Lewis and Wilma Ranum and brother Ronald Ranum.

Kenny had a wonderful and unique optimistic view on life and his family was his treasure. May he rest in peace.
