Launched at the International Roofing Expo (IRE), the new Unified Steel Material List Generator is a free, interactive tool that autogenerates a roofing project list, simplifying the estimating process for both Unified Steel Stone Coated Roofing and Westlake Roofing Components. In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sits down with Mitch Heitsch of Westlake Royal Roofing Solutions to talk about this new solution. Learn how this material list generator seamlessly integrates with roof measurement software solutions and can speed up your estimating process. 

When it comes to changes in estimating over the years, Mitch says there have been some great improvements in the last few years, but there are really two schools of contractors out there still. He explains, “There's a lot of technology that can help to where you can put together a very accurate roofing bid without even having to really go to the house or look at it or go to the project and look at it. Then the inverse side of that, I still have great friends and great customers that love to break out the blueprints and a ruler and do it the old school way.” 

The material list generator came out of the advancing technology in the industry and filled a specific need for stone coated roofing. Mitch continues, “If you're not familiar with stone coated metal, you might know that it's a little bit more in depth and can be more intimidating, just in terms of the parts and pieces that are needed. So, a lot of times we'll get a call, and somebody asks for a bid, we'll help them put the material list together. So that was a necessity that was shown out in the field just helping our contractors come along with it.”
