Free Roof for U.S. Army Veteran

By Alec Doniger.

The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project gives back to veteran family with generously donated roof.

Those who have served in the military have made significant sacrifices in their lives. It is often difficult to know what a community can do to give back. The roofing industry and companies like Owens Corning are conscious of this and make efforts to care for our veterans by gifting them free roofs.

Maria Nodich has served 12 years in the U.S. Army, and her husband is also a veteran. To express gratitude for their service, the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project has provided Nodich’s family with a new roof and gutter system at no cost.

The Roof Deployment Project began in 2016 and involves more than 300 Platinum Preferred roofing contractors. Maria’s roof came from Security Luebke Roofing, a trusted contractor based in Northeast Wisconsin.

Lisa Ortscheid of Security Luebke feels lucky to be a part of such an impactful operation. She expressed in an interview with Fox 11 News, “It's a very special thing that we can give. Your home is your covering for all your belongings and everything that you care about and we want to just provide a safe environment for individuals."

A new roof might not be the first thing that comes to mind when considering giving back to our veterans, but a safe, well-protected home is something everyone needs and deserves. If the condition of a roof is so poor that it renders the home unsafe, a new roof could make a world of difference for the residents. Such has been the case for over 325 veteran families whose lives have been improved by the Roof Deployment Project.

The people at Owens Corning understand that the collective wellbeing of veteran military service members is extremely important. This gift for the Nodich family reminds us that the seemingly simple acts of kindness are what leave a profoundly positive impact on a person’s life.

Do you know of someone in the industry who is ‘doing good deeds’ in their community? Help us catch them at it. Send news and information to info@rooferscoffeeshop.com.
