Faster, more consistent membrane welding

Faster, more consistent membrane welding
October 1, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

By The Coffee Shops®.

Learn how the right welding products help roofing professionals reduce long-term operating costs.

Welding roof membranes on busy construction sites requires reliable equipment that can perform under fluctuating conditions while also maintaining workflow efficiency. To help contractors balance these needs, Leister developed the VARIMAT 710 and VARIMAT 510 automatic welding machines to help professional roofers manage cost pressures while delivering clean, consistent and traceable work.

Both models offer high welding speeds supported by optimized technology and stable process control. According to this article from Leister, the machines can provide up to 30% more welding output compared with standard market solutions. This increased productivity can help crews complete more welded meters each workday, creating a noticeable advantage on large flat-roof projects.

Power conditions can also affect results. Intelligent power management helps the VARIMAT models maintain consistent welding parameters during undervoltage, reducing the risk of rework caused by voltage fluctuations. Balanced weight distribution, ergonomic design and an adjustable transport axle also support precise tracking along long seams and challenging roof-edge areas.

For greater jobsite flexibility, both machines can switch between 230 V and 400 V. The VARIMAT 710 adds digital quality documentation through myLeister LQS Roofing. GPS-based welding logs record welding data, support quality verification, and provide traceable reports for clients, tenders and audits.

Long-term operating costs are addressed through the brushless ECOdrive blower motor, which reduces wear and maintenance requirements. Leister reports that the machines have a service life of more than 10 years, can reduce total costs by 20% and include a five-year manufacturer warranty.

Whether contractors prioritize efficient membrane welding with the VARIMAT 510 or documented quality with the VARIMAT 710, both models are designed to support more productive and economical flat-roof work.

Learn more about how the VARIMAT 710 and VARIMAT 510 can support welding quality, productivity and cost control on flat roofs.
