Designing visualization tools for the modern contractor

Designing visualization tools for the modern contractor

By Emma Peterson.

Piers Dormeyer shares how Eagleview One helps contractors better understand structures with 3D modeling.

Recently, Piers Dormeyer, the CEO of Eagleview, stopped by for a Roofing Road Trips® episode focused on their new platform, Eagleview One, and how it equips contractors with the tools needed to succeed in the modern market. Piers opened the conversation by talking a bit about what Eagleview One does, sharing, “The mission of Eagleview One is to move beyond the 2D measurement reports we’re known for, not that that's not important, and help contractors solve more problems by taking that data and creating a 3D visualization that showcases the property and the environment around it.”

How is it possible to present a visualized model that is accurate enough to be useful? Eagleview uses high-tech planes to take incredibly precise aerial images of a structure. These images are captured at one inch GSD accuracy, which is 30-60 times higher resolution than satellite images (which is what you might find from Google street view, for reference). Using these high-definition images, they are able to create high-quality, accurate reports. In fact, a third-party engineering company has verified the accuracy of Eagleview’s measurements by conducting independent roof audits and found that Eagleview  “has 99% accuracy on roofs and 97-98% accuracy on the walls.”

The Eagleview One platform takes this success a step further. By using tech tools, including AI, the Eagleview team is able to translate the images and the reports into a 3D model that allows contractors to truly get the full picture of their jobsite. As Piers put it, “There's a lot more information available behind those pixels than just the squares on a roof. So, really seeing it in 3D helps you understand certain part of the property that are harder to conceptualize in numbers.”
