Colorado Roofing Association Says Farewell to Jeff Johnson

By Colin Sheehan, RCS Reporter.

Read Jeff Johnson’s last presidents' message before handing over the reins to Suzie Boyd.

Jeff Johnson’s third year as President of the Colorado Roofing Association (CRA) will be coming to a close at the end of the year. Come January 1, 2021 the Presidency will be officially in the hands of Suzie Boyd with Academy Roofing.

“I am also very proud of the hard work we have accomplished these past few years with legislation, training, and fund raising,” said Jeff. While Jeff’s role as president will be ending, he will remain an important member on the CRA Board and will continue to serve as Chair of the Government Relations Committee. He hopes to continue to help the organization push for legislation that will help the roofing industry.

In his letter, Jeff mentioned several of CRA’s future events, all of which will be held virtually for the foreseeable future. Sadly, one of their main events, the Awards Dinner, will not be held for the first time in 20 years.

Jeff isn’t pessimistic, however, and is continuing to find solutions to host the CRA events despite the ongoing pandemic, “With a little luck and thinking outside the box,” Jeff writes, “We hope to replace our trade show with an outdoor summer event; the golf tournament and of course our clay shoot, will continue.”

The CRA is also looking to add another event, either a Top Golf or Corn Hole tournament. The additional event is in an effort to help CRA’s budget needs in 2021 as well as to bring some additional joy during challenging times. All and all, Jeff is looking forward to the new year and the new opportunities that await: “Leave COVID-19 in the rear-view mirror, no forest fires and a booming economy!”

Jeff is thankful for all of the CRA members, the committee members and board members. He also dedicated his letter and to the family of Joe LaCrue. “We lost a true friend and a great person in Joe LaCrue. Joe was a golfing buddy, loving Dad and top metal salesman for Sheffield Metals. We will miss him.”

Jeff ended his last President’s message with the wish that everyone stays safe and healthy this holiday season.

Read Jeff’s entire letter and email him a thank you.
