Camila Santander - Beacon Female Roofing Professional of the Year Finalist!

Beacon Podcast with Camila Santander
January 24, 2022 at 6:00 a.m.

By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.

Join Heidi J. Ellsworth as she talks with Camila Santander about her inspiring story of finding success in the roofing industry.

In Season 4, Episode 3 of Roofing Road Trips, Heidi J. Ellsworth spoke with Camila Santander from ASA Roofing about her many accomplishments in her work in the roofing industry. Most recently, she was named as a finalist in Beacon’s Female Roofing Professional of the Year competition.

Camila and her family came to this country as immigrants and they have always been driven to work hard and succeed. When she was just 14 years old, she helped her father start ASA Roofing by helping them fill out official paperwork. “It really just felt normal for me,” she said. “We're all working towards something, and I'm doing this to help my family.”

ASA Roofing is truly a family owned and operated business. Camila’s father is president, she is vice president and her siblings and uncle are on the staff as well. The company specializes in roofing but they also can replace windows, fix siding and they have even built a few homes from scratch.

Camila says their company loves to specialize in roofing because of how impactful it can be to have a roof over your head. “It's such a critical part of any structure that it's almost even like a basic human right,” she said. “It is something we really love doing because we feel its importance, and we see the change it makes in people's lives.”

The Beacon Female Roofing Professional contest is their first female-specific contest they have ever hosted. Camila was shocked when her staff submitted an application for her and was even more surprised when she found out she was a finalist. She loves the opportunities this presents for her and the company to connect with others in the industry.

When asked what advice she had for women who want to get into roofing, Camila stated: “I really like to tell everyone to just not feel intimidated. And I know it's hard, but that's a fear that you have to push through. Growth comes from being uncomfortable.”

Listen to the entire podcast to learn more about how Camila and her family built ASA Roofing from the ground up!
