Building better businesses

Building better businesses
May 10, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.

By Jesse Sanchez.

Experts discuss strategy sessions, a reality check and a fresh focus on what matters most: service.

ServiceCon 2025 wasn’t just about industry professionals gathering to learn the latest tools or trends. It was about sharpening skills, rethinking customer care and investing in personal growth. Hosted by Centerpoint Connect, the event brought together hundreds of contractors, leaders and service experts ready to push the industry forward.

“It’s the industry leaders that are contributing to service — they all crushed it,” said Will Riley, CEO of Centerpoint Connect, during a live interview with Heidi J. Ellsworth.

Peer group discussions stood out as a highlight of the convention. Will expressed the importance of collaboration, noting, “A lot of contractors that came here have told me that that's what they desire — to talk to each other.” He added, “They’ve got to sharpen their tools too and constantly evolve with the times,” pointing to the peer sessions as a key way attendees learned from each other.

The conference’s structure was no accident. Will explained that the agenda was designed to take attendees on a journey, starting with the “why” behind service, moving into practical “how-to” strategies and ending with advanced topics like drone technology and marketing.

One key theme emerged across multiple sessions: take care of the customers you already have. Growing the relationship with your existing clients beats chasing new ones.

Beyond business tactics, ServiceCon 2025 also tackled topics rarely heard at trade events — like self-care. Speaker Greg's metaphor of the "container" hit home, challenging attendees to focus on personal development as a path to business success. "The container itself is something to work on and that represents you, me," Will said, reflecting on the importance of strengthening the individual to strengthen the business.

The energy stayed high all week, with standing-room-only sessions and plans already underway for next year’s event. Recordings from the conference will soon be available, offering even more ways for contractors to plug into the momentum.
