Attic ventilation: A seminar to put you above the rest!

Construction Solutions Attic Ventilation with Paul
January 18, 2024 at 6:00 a.m.

By Dani Sheehan.

Don’t miss this conversation with Paul Scelsi for an opportunity to elevate your roofing game and attend his attic ventilation seminar this year.

Looking for professional development opportunities as we head into the beginning of the year? You won’t want to miss this free technical seminar, Attic Ventilation: Ask the Expert™, offered by Paul Scelsi at Air Vent, a division of the Gibraltar Building Accessories Group. In a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips®, Heidi J. Ellsworth sits down with Paul to discuss this insightful seminar and the importance of residential attic ventilation from one of the leaders in ventilation across the roofing industry.

We often talk about weather in roofing, particularly changing weather patterns and the impact of moisture on roofing systems, but as Paul explains, attic ventilation is rarely top of mind in these conversations. However, it plays a critical role in the longevity of a roof. He says, “We try to emphasize it’s a year-round benefit. Fight heat in the warmer months, fight moisture buildup in the colder months, and by moisture buildup that includes every part of living in our homes – cooking, cleaning, even breathing. We generate water vapor, and that water vapor is attracted to a cooler, drier place, which is the attic.”

This month marks their 26th year hosting this seminar to teach contractors about the importance of ventilation. Paul says he continues to learn from his guests to further improve the seminar and has seen clear benefits from continuing education. He explains, “One of the benefits that became clear through our guests is A, everybody is on the same page within your company. You’re all learning. And B, you spread the wealth of knowledge so you’re not dependent on just a handful of people who know a certain aspect of the business.”

The core principles stay the same each year, emphasizing the role of attic ventilation in residential roofing, how best to ventilate and how to overcome homeowner pushback. But they also bring new and relevant field examples that have been submitted to them by contractors. This year, they have 37 locations planned between now and mid-April 2024. Don’t miss your opportunity to attend a seminar in a city near you!

Listen to the full podcast episode to learn more about what to expect from the seminar and see why every roofing professional should care about attic ventilation.
