ATAS International LIVE at IRE 2024!

ATAS IRE 2024
April 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

By Jonny Suchor.

ATAS International reflects on family, innovation and the future of roofing at the 2024 International Roofing Expo.

At the 2024 International Roofing Expo in Las Vegas, Jim Bus from ATAS International had a conversation with Karen Edwards on the RoofersCoffeeShop® Sound Stage. Jim shared some heartwarming tales and insights from the heart of his family's business.

Jim kicked off with a friendly introduction. "I'm Jim Bus, executive vice president at ATAS International. It's a family affair started by my parents in 1963. I ended up as vice president because I'm the younger brother, but hey, that's family for you.”

He dove into the essence of ATAS, where tradition meets innovation. "While my brother basks in the limelight, recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, I steer the ship's operations, ensuring we're not just meeting but exceeding industry standards," Jim explained. His pride in their work is evident in his tone.

Jim was excited about the company's growth and innovation. "We're buzzing with activity, from new equipment in Allentown and Mesa to a new bending line in Illinois. We're all about creating what our customers dream up, turning their visions into reality," he explains.

He reflected on the shift towards customization in their business. This approach highlights ATAS's commitment to meeting unique customer needs and staying ahead in the competitive market. "We've moved past the one-size-fits-all approach. Now, it's all about personalized service. We're even launching a 'build your own panel' feature online. It's about giving our clients exactly what they need."

Lastly, Jim shared a touching bit of his family history. "Our original equipment, which marked the start of our journey, sits proudly in our foyer, almost like a museum piece. It's a testament to where we've come from. While it's just my brother and me from the original clan, our children are stepping up, carrying our family legacy into the third generation."

In this conversation, Jim painted a picture of a business that's as much about family values as it is about innovation and customer service. His stories weren't just about metal and machinery, they were about people, passion and the strength of family bonds.
