Army Veteran and Family Gifted New Roof

RCS Family Gifted Roof 4.6

By Anna Lockhart.

An Oklahoma roofing company has made it their mission to gift local veterans with new roofs, and this Army veteran was the lucky recipient.

Two years ago, Red River Roofing, Siding & Windows launched their annual campaign to give veterans throughout the state of Oklahoma new roofs. This year, as their second annual recipient, veteran Jose Parra was gifted a new roof for his home in Moore, Oklahoma.

Jose, a veteran of the United States Army, served three tours in the middle east from 2004 to 2011.  After leaving the military, he now works for Tinker Air Force Base. Jose told Norman Transcript, “I was in the infantry, so it was a little harder work, but we do it for this country, so I’m thankful for that opportunity.”

Jose’s wife nominated her husband for the running as a potential recipient of this year’s Red River roof campaign. After being narrowed down into a running of finalists and an inspection of their roof, which was in dire need of repair, Jose and his family were chosen as the winners for this year’s free roof.

Red River Roofing, Siding & Windows partnered with Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project and Purple Heart Homes to assemble a team of laborers who were dedicated to bringing this project to life.

Amy Gooch, marketing director of Red River Roofing, shared, “We are giving back to veterans who sacrifice so much for our safety and shelter, so we want to be able to, in turn, provide them with shelter.”

The company hopes to continue these acts of good will for others in their state, with a plan to potentially award a local school teacher with their own free roof. They hope this annual tradition of giving back to veterans continues and that others might join the cause.

Do you know of someone in the industry who is ‘doing good deeds’ in their community? Help us catch them at it. Send news and information to info@rooferscoffeeshop.com.
