A cleaner way to move jobsite debris

Heath Hicks shares how a new debris-handling system could help roofing crews reduce mess, physical strain and wasted time on the jobsite.
What if roofing crews could move debris into a dumpster without the mess and physical strain of repeatedly lifting heavy loads? For The Catch-All co-founder Heath Hicks, that question helped inspire the Load Runner, a new debris-handling system. On this episode of the Roofing Road Trips® podcast, Heath joined host Karen Edwards to explain how the invention addresses a familiar jobsite challenge. The conversation explored a problem that emerged from Heath's earlier work developing property-protection solutions. Once roofing debris and nails were contained around a home, another question remained: How could crews transfer
that material into a dumpster without creating another mess?
Heath described the difficulty of that process, saying, “When you unload them into the trailer, there really is not a way to do that without creating mess.”
So, how does the Load Runner solve that problem?
The system lifts and dumps a specially equipped wheelbarrow directly into a trailer, dumpster or over a parapet wall.
Its height-adjustable design and clamping system accommodate different surfaces, while its feet support the unit's weight.
Explaining how straightforward the process is, Heath said, “You literally just roll it up there and hit the button. That’s it.”
But what does that mean for crews handling debris throughout the day? Beyond reducing mess, the Load Runner is designed to minimize repetitive overhead lifting and streamline cleanup. When discussing the impact on his crews, Heath emphasized the efficiency gains, saying, “It saves them so much time.”
The system operates on two rechargeable drill batteries and includes a compatible wheelbarrow. It can also move along a dumpster, allowing crews to distribute debris rather than repeatedly dumping it in one spot. Although roofing inspired the invention, Heath sees opportunities for the Load Runner in commercial construction, landscaping and other trades that regularly manage jobsite debris. The Load Runner is currently available for preorder, with production planned before customer shipments begin.
