These "roofers" take other peoples ideas and claim them as there own. Let me explain,a man tells me how to spray a roof with glass and emulsion and gives me a day of training and now I am ready to go to work! Because somebody has lots of money to advertise and a good salesman does not make them a good roofer. Spraying glass and emulsion takes lots of training and many hours. I have installed millions of sqft and trained hundreds of people. What i see now is tons of crap spray jobs giving glass and emulsion a bad name. 80% of coating roofers are lost and misled to how it all works and why.

Wow like I said you've got the b.s. Down I was a foreman for gsrs in 98 I was 22 you jack wagon, the truth has been brought out now you must face the facts and there are no kold kingers in my territory. And it sounds like your crying right now, I never said I trained westcoat I said I help them every year and that is a fact. With that said don't post on my blogs and say stupid stuff and I wont have to call you on your bull!

Just to set things right,

Kade YOU DIDN'T TRAIN ME!!! I stepped on a GSRS roof in 98. I think you were 12 for goodness sakes!!! You feel like discrediting folks thats fine what ever you feel like saying is fine. I dont give away anything, but I will talk to folks who are trying to work it out and give them what I can of my limited knoweldge.

Also the things I say on here is to mess with you and get a rise out of you because its funny to watch you get so worked up. You go ahead and try and sell the bull that you trained so many folks or that you help train Westcoat to these folks who dont know better. Thats fine. Shine in the empty room. I wish you the best of luck on this site.

The simple truth it all started out with you ranting and raving because you were pissed at Kold Kingers envading your teritory and somehow you've turned the anger on me. Thats ok, I dont take it to heart and I dont cry about it. Say what you want and tell folks what you feel like. I talk to roofers now all over the world and I never take the road you are here. Good luck folks on this site, I for one have heard enough to know it's not for me.

Now that's messed up! What happened to men these days, my dad taught me to always be honest and that my word should be my bond. I strive to help people, me and my brother started a charity called "LIGHT OF MEN" to help people. We now have a thrift store called the "RE-GIFTING STORE" Where 100% of the profit goes to those in need. You can look it up online my brother has had cbs, fox, and many other news channels do interviews with him. Its korry holtzlander. We need more people to step in and help there fellow man in need. Not steal his clients or ideas. There have always been bad people in the world! Now I feel there are more bad then good. Its getting hard to find good people these days.

Roofguy Said: Man I dont wanna get in the middle of this but maybe I can give an outsiders opinion.

Ive had 1 dealing with Shane and it was good. But, I also see the pitfalls of sharing/selling trade secrets that create competition for the company you got them from. Weve been the victim of this several times. We came into the shop one day to find Polaroid negatives (this was circa 1983) of our Kold King rig scattered around on the floor. Sure enough a month later a former employee had built his own rig and went in competition with us - he even used all our literature and references as his own.

An employee copied our chopper gun and started selling them for less than we get. Fortunately word got around pretty fast that the guns didnt work, but it took money out of our pockets.

When we sell a rig we teach the contractor how to make money with it using strategies and techniques we developed over 43 years and much trial and error. We want him to make a lot of money and buy a lot of emulsion, whereby we make money on the emulsion. We expect to divulge some trade secrets as part of that transaction. What isnt ok is for that contractor to then essentially go in competition with us by handing off those trade secrets to other contractors either for money or for fun. Thats how we make our living and if he decides to compete with us well treat him like a competitor not like an affiliate.

One of the things that makes chopped glass so profitable is that every roofer and his dog isnt doing the system. Thats by design, not accident. SPF has all but ruined their market by saturating it - we dont want that to happen to chopped glass by handing off trade secrets that were learned through decades of hard work and innovation.

But here is where the innovators have an angle. The Chinese also are good copiers, but not innovators. The copycats can always find a way to copy what you do - the problem for them is that by the time they figure it out and implement it themselves, the innovators have already improved on it and are doing it better. Its always a game of catch up for the copycats.

Now Im not saying Shane is a copycat - Im just saying that companies have valid reasons for not wanting their trade sectrets handed out like candy.

Well put tim im not here claiming i know everything about all roofing but i know glass and emulsion, its not all about loosing secrets its also about using the family name when you dont have the right to! I come on the site to argue with inteligent people not people that i trained. this has became a bunch of he said she said. Its all horse s@#t! Tim i we think alot alike. Thanks for the back up.

Wow you have the boast, lie, and inflate part down. simply put you are full of s@#! Thats fine. Most people no bull when they see it. Dad gets a good laugh when he reads your post. i'm sure westcoat will work out well for you but watch how far you go with your post it could bite you in the a$$. Just a little advice from a "family member"

Robert Said: You guys must be family? LOL

Ya he married my sister about a year ago. we dont work well together could you tell!

Yea we are family, I just like getting under Kids skin oops I mean Kade's LOL. He takes all this so serious. I figure this is a place for roofers to go and talk crap, boast, lie and inflate.

We all smile at one another until it gets down to business. Simply put I do not ever talk bad about another company or say anything if possible that could come back and bite me on the ass.

In the past couple of years I have made friends with roofers all over the world and I am still in contact with them. I went to Arizona and hung out with Nick over at Roof Medics and enjoyed myself completely. He is a great host with a very nice family. I may head to other places this year to consult other companies in the tricks of the trade that we practice.

I first stepped on a chopped glass roof at 18 in 1989. After 19 years in the roofing world I must say, there are some bull*%#@ artist out there and there are some truly good folks. Everyone is trying to make a buck and withstand this economical down turn. Of course coatings make sense to many. All I can say is after learning the huge amount I learned on the road with Lucky, and spraying side by side with my boss now I am very happy to say that Westcoat is the home I was meant to be at. Read our Website and see how we give thanks to God and try to live a straight life on and off the roof. Good luck future coaters and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. :)

???????? ????????

Sorry for the confusion. It is better to just smile and let out a small laugh for what folks are selling or trying to sell. So rather than say something that would hurt feelings or embarrass folks. I will smile and leave the baloney I see alone.

If I get any more calls Tim I will be happy to send those folks your way. Good Sprayin.

quote/]WestcoatShane Said: This has so much drama. Accusations, defences, explanations and then... Loss of subject. The industry is tightening up. What was rare product is now not so rare and that is largely due to Kold King selling the equipment and basic know how. The problem I have seen is so many folks grab that gem and hold it so tight afraid someone is going to steal there process or tricks of the trade. What is the worse that could happen? You will have to give true competitive pricing, the order taking mentality is abolished and the real work has to start. I like meeting all the coaters and giving them advice, I like competing against other companies and I love the fact that our spray man was the man who was out there sweating and training for over 20 years in the industry. If it wasnt for the training from him and all the years working with Lucky I wouldnt have the small (more than most) knowledge of this process. I know a great many of you are looking at my Videos on YouTube and maybe your stealing ideas, maybe your learning something, maybe your claiming them as your ideas. Before you Reroof Rethink Restore is my slogan. Either way I dont care, rather than shun the new kid, give him a hand up and rebuild what was once the greatest answer to failing roofs in the world.

Come on now shane we both know who your statements are directed at. Those tricks you speak of are years and years of trial and error, and every roofer has them. With that said we train anyone who needs help (even westcoat yearly)that doesn't mean you spend your days giving all that info out to just anyone. Having a lot of experience is good having a little is dangerous. (no price can makeup for knowledge)now the spray man you speak of (jack) the owner of westcoat also my cousin,is a great applicator one of the best. Also a great friend to me. The tricks we have we've had them 50 years because dad always hired loyal people and they respected him, based on your past comments I guess that stands for nothing no respect of the countless days of trial and error to come up with the system, now we should just give it all away for??? As for your slogan I wasn't aware anyone was steeling it. And the Small amount of training you have had came from me and jack not dad (LUCKY). So you should RE-EVALUATE RE-THINK AND RE-WRITE YOUR STATEMENT.
