SOPREMA was founded in 1908 by Charles Geisen, while seeking to develop a fully waterproof fabric that would also be flexible and easy to install, found the solution by soaking jute fabric in hot bitumen. The result gave a lightweight but strong screed which came to be known as “MAMMOUTH®."

Today, the company operates over 50 manufacturing plants and has a presence in 90 countries across the world. In the United States, we manufacture in Wadsworth, Ohio and Gulfport, Mississippi.

ALSAN Coatings

ALSAN Coatings are designed to aid in maintaining and extending the lifespan of new and existing roofs by adding a protective layer to the current system. The coating layer accomplishes this by protecting the underlying membranes from weathering and can reduce rooftop temperatures. The ALSAN Coatings product line consists of two coating options, silicone and acrylic. The line is complete with flashing materials, primers and accessory products designed to prepare the surface and enhance adhesion.

The effects of direct sunlight on a black roof have been proven to shorten the life of a roof and increase cooling costs for the building owners. Coatings, such as ALSAN Coatings, can help extend a roof’s lifespan by applying a reflective layer to the existing system.

What Makes the SOPRA-XPS Unique?

Resistant in All of Its Aspects. 

In addition to being resistant to water and water vapor, SOPRA-XPS panels are versatile and capable of withstanding extreme temperature changes and freeze-thaw cycles without permanent damage. Moreover, even when exposed to moisture, SOPRA-XPS resists mold and bacteria.

Toughness and Sustainability. 

Rigid and non-friable, SOPRA-XPS panels are suitable for a variety of applications. Sharp and clean cuts are easy to make and do not generate dust. Lightweight and easy to install, SOPRA-XPS panels are offered with various compressive strengths to meet all needs. Moreover, they provide one of the highest compressive strengths on the market, whether against heavy or dynamic loads.

Constant Performance. 

SOPRA-XPS panels are compliant with the CAN ULC S701.1 standard thanks to the following four features: good compressive strength, high R-value (R-5/inch), dimensional stability and very low water absorption.

Moreover, they provide a constant long-term R-value (LTTR) of R-5 per inch, even at low temperatures. They maintain their thermal and mechanical performance throughout the life of the building.
