SkillsUSA

Representing more than 444,000 career and technical education students and teachers, SkillsUSA chapters thrive in middle schools, high schools and college/postsecondary institutions nationwide.

Our mission is accomplished through the SkillsUSA framework of personal skills, workplace skills and technical skills grounded in academics, which is integrated into classroom curriculum. Through the framework, SkillsUSA students hone their hands-on skills against current industry standards in more than 100 occupational areas, from 3D animation to welding and nearly everything in between.

At the same time, they develop the transformative career-readiness skills — teamwork, communication, professionalism, leadership and more — that fuel career and life success. A vital solution to the ongoing skills gap, where more highly skilled jobs are available than skilled professionals ready to fill them, SkillsUSA has served over 15 million diverse, difference-making members since 1965.

The SkillsUSA Championship

The SkillsUSA Championships is the national culmination of a year-long process that begins in local SkillsUSA chapters across the country.

Local winners advance to district or regional competitions, testing their skills against competitors from other schools.

Those winners advance to state competitions each spring, and state gold medalists earn the right to compete nationally at the SkillsUSA Championships each June.

Along with gold, silver and bronze medallions, competitors may earn scholarships, tools of the trade and even job offers right off the competition floor. Perhaps most importantly, they earn the confidence that can only come when you know you’re among the best of the best in what you do. For more information, visit: SkillsUSA Championships General Regulations.

Scholarships

One of the benefits of SkillsUSA membership is the opportunity to apply for scholarships available only to SkillsUSA members. During the 2023-24 school year, more than $400,000 in annual scholarships were awarded to SkillsUSA high school and college/postsecondary members to offset the cost of postsecondary education and training. Additionally, multiple scholarships were awarded to offset the cost of attending SkillsUSA events such as the National Leadership & Skills Conference and the Washington Leadership and Training Institute.

Please note that other scholarship opportunities may also become available outside of these dates. SkillsUSA members are encouraged to monitor this page to access scholarship applications and review updates!
