Enviroshake®’s exact formula is a trade secret. Our products are composite materials created from 95% recycled materials, including post-industrial plastics, natural fibres and elastomers. Our formulation is enhanced with a proprietary blend of additives that protect our products from UV degradation and allow them to truly replicate the look of natural cedar and slate.

Post-industrial materials are highly robust and do not have the impurities that post-consumer blends struggle with.

All Enviroshake roofing tiles are designed to offer industry-leading performance and have been tested to industry standards.
Enviroshake products are engineered for long-term performance and are backed by transferable limited warranties. The Gold-Level Warranty provides 50 years of coverage when Enviroshield® synthetic underlayment is used, while the Standard-Level Warranty provides 25 years of coverage. Conditions and regional limitations apply.
Yes. Class A and Class C fire-rated Enviroshake products are available and have been tested to ASTM E108 and CAN/ULC-S107 standards. Class A is the highest available roofing fire classification, making these products suitable for many high-risk fire areas. Product selection and installation must meet applicable local requirements.
Yes. Enviroshake products have achieved a Class 4 rating under UL 2218, the highest classification available under this impact-resistance standard. This rating demonstrates resistance to hail and other impact-related damage. Homeowners may qualify for insurance discounts depending on their insurer and location.
Yes. Enviroshake has been third-party tested to withstand wind speeds up to 180 mph (290 km/h), including testing under ASTM D3161 and Miami-Dade requirements. At the standard 9-inch exposure, no special high-wind installation method is required beyond following Enviroshake’s installation instructions and applicable building codes.
Yes. Class A Enviroshake roofing products are compliant for use in applicable Wildland-Urban Interface areas. Because requirements vary by jurisdiction and roofing assembly, always confirm the selected product and installation system with the local building authority before installation.
Yes. Enviroshake can be installed when overnight temperatures reach as low as –15°C (–4°F), provided the roof and tiles are dry. Pneumatic nailers can still be used, although pressure may need to be reduced. Enviroshake can be slippery when wet and should only be installed or walked on when dry.
Enviroshake products must be installed by a Factory Trained Enviroshake Installer for the warranty to be valid. Factory training gives contractors the product knowledge and installation techniques required to meet Enviroshake specifications. Homeowners can contact Enviroshake to locate a trained installer in their area.
The roof must be installed by a Factory Trained Installer and registered within 30 days of installation. Registration requires completed-roof photographs and a paid invoice. The 50-year Gold-Level Warranty also requires Enviroshield® synthetic underlayment. Enviroshake may inspect the installation before issuing the warranty certificate.
Enviroshake tiles are intentionally designed to weather during the first 6–12 months. During this period, the colour lightens and the initial surface sheen fades, revealing a matte patina that more closely resembles aged natural cedar. After this initial weathering period, the tiles maintain their established colour and appearance.
Enviroshake and Enviroshingle weigh approximately 260 pounds per roofing square, compared with roughly 300–500 pounds for cedar. Enviroslate weighs approximately 275 pounds per square, compared with approximately 1,900 pounds for half-inch natural slate. The lower weight can reduce structural demands and simplify handling.
Enviroshake products are manufactured from a proprietary composite containing polymers, elastomers and natural fibres. Approximately 95% of the material is post-industrial recycled content, and the finished roofing tiles are fully recyclable. The formulation also contains additives designed to protect against UV degradation and long-term weather exposure.
Enviroshake recreates the varied appearance of taper-sawn cedar shakes. Enviroslate replicates the texture and edge detail of natural slate. Enviroshingle recreates a traditional 5-inch-exposure perfection cedar shingle. Although their profiles and aesthetics differ, all three use Enviroshake’s engineered composite formulation and are designed for long-term weather resistance.
Enviroshake recreates natural cedar using multiple profiles developed from 3D images of real taper-sawn shakes. Unlike natural cedar, it does not require preservatives and is resistant to rot, mould, insects, UV exposure and freeze–thaw damage. It also offers tested fire, impact and high-wind performance while requiring minimal maintenance.
