What’s Protecting the Building at a Deeper Layer?

Bitec Protecting the building
October 4, 2021 at 3:00 p.m.

Metal and tile roofs are known across the industry for their superior waterproofing performance and robust integrity.

These materials protect against all kinds of damage from the outermost layer of the roof.

But what about metal and tile’s back-up? What’s protecting the building at a deeper layer? For the building’s outermost layer to be effective, it needs protection that extends beyond surface level. Every robust building envelope requires a full system that protects from all angles.

That’s where MAT-40 shows up and lays a strong foundation for success. MAT-40 is Bitec’s long-lasting metal and tile underlayment membrane, weighing 40 lbs per 100 square feet.

MAT-40 gains its strength from its well-rounded composition. With a top coat consisting of high-strength, dimensionally stable polyester combined with fiberglass scrim, MAT-40 truly holds its own. On the bottom surface, the roll is coated with a specially formulated SBR polymer modified adhesive. This allows for a silicone-treated split release film to easily attach to the membrane, which eases installation for the customer.

Another great benefit of MAT-40 is that it boasts a monolithic coating and saturating process, instead of being a laminate or dual-compound material. This contributes to the underlayment’s superior waterproofing capabilities and provides an even simpler application.

If high-performance protection alone didn’t catch you, MAT-40’s self-adhering composition is bound to seal the deal. Bitec knows the value of a self-adhering membrane. That’s why they put so much care into incorporating it into a variety of their signature membranes. The easy-to-use of the peel-off release film eases MAT-40’s application process, so you can enjoy more free time, less labor and the most visible protection available for the jobsite.

MAT-40 creates a strong foundation for the most successful Bitec systems. Lay down MAT-40 and top it off with your favorite metal or tile, to see the results in action in your next project.
