Turning performance goals into practical results

Product innovation, labor-saving solutions and advanced insulation can help contractors turn building performance priorities into practical roofing solutions.
Once contractors identify the performance goals most important to a building owner, the next challenge is translating those objectives into a practical roofing solution.
During this episode of Roofing Road Trips®, David French discussed how Versico approaches that challenge through installation quality, product innovation and solutions designed around real-world project needs.
Even the strongest roofing assembly depends on proper execution in the field. Emphasizing the importance of workmanship to long-term performance, David stressed, “Installation is by far the most important component in terms of making sure that a roofing system lasts a long time.”
That emphasis on practical performance also shapes Versico’s approach to product development, particularly as contractors navigate ongoing labor shortages. Explaining that new products must address challenges contractors actually face, David said, “Every good new product, whether it's developed by us or somebody else, has to be rooted in problems to solve.”
That philosophy extends to Impact R7, an insulation innovation introduced during the conversation. The product is designed to provide improved thermal performance while maintaining the same installation approach as traditional polyisocyanurate insulation. According to David, contractors can achieve greater thermal efficiency without increasing assembly height, creating advantages for retrofits, cold-storage applications and projects with structural limitations.
David also highlighted potential savings associated with transportation, material usage and overall building performance. For building owners, those benefits can support improved energy efficiency. For contractors, they can provide additional flexibility when balancing performance goals with project and installation requirements.
Helping customers understand those long-term considerations can also strengthen a contractor’s approach to a project. Resources such as savings calculators and manufacturer support can help demonstrate how performance-focused decisions may provide value beyond the initial installation. Encouraging contractors to begin with the customer’s priorities, David advised, “Make sure you understand the pain points of your customer,” while also emphasizing the value of working with experts who can help address those challenges.
