Register today for National Roofing Legal Resource Center (NRLRC) 40th Anniversary Seminar in New York City, September 18-21, 2019.

Legal issues are a fact of life in the roofing industry, and roofing contractors need to make the most of every resource available.  Learning from construction law professionals takes center stage at this year’s National Roofing Legal Resource Center (NRLRC) 40th Anniversary Seminar in New York City, September 18-21, 2019 with a timely presentation on the opioid crisis from Trent Cotney of Cotney Construction Law.

A well-known speaker on industry-related topics, Trent Cotney, CEO of Cotney Construction Law, will speak on Confronting the Opioid Epidemic in the Roofing Industry.  The recent opioid crisis has resulted in the death of thousands of Americans, and the construction industry, in particular, has felt the impact of this epidemic.  According to one study, approximately 15 percent of construction workers have a substance abuse problem. However, the problem goes beyond the worker’s personal life; the opioid crisis presents safety concerns in the workplace and costs construction industry billions of dollars annually due to health care expenses and production loss.

Cotney will speak on how the opioid epidemic costs American employers $10 billion a year in productivity and absenteeism. The roofing industry faces issues associated with prescription painkillers from an HR and safety standpoint.  His presentation will focus on helping roofing contractors understand the issues from an employer’s perspective and the importance of creating policies and procedures to address the crisis.

As a Florida Bar Board Certified Construction Law specialist, who is also licensed in Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, and Texas, Trent focuses his practice on all aspects of construction litigation and arbitration, including OSHA defense, lien law, bond law, and bid protests, as well as construction document review and drafting. He routinely represents general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, manufacturers, architects, engineers, developers, and others in the construction industry in a variety of matters.

For forty years, the National Roofing Legal Resource Center (NRLRC), in conjunction with the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), has developed and delivered unique legal products, services and education to enable roofing contractors to successfully manage and respond effectively to the legal issues affecting their business.  Today one of their key events is NRLRC’s Annual Legal Seminar, Roofing Issues: Decks to Dockets.

This year’s NRLRC seminar will take place in the Big Apple on September 18-21 at the New York Hilton Midtown. New York City provides the backdrop to an extraordinary three-day learning experience that offers roofing contractors 13+ hours of in-depth legal, contractual, technical and business information that can’t be found anywhere else. In addition, contractors will discover 5-10 new ideas that can implemented immediately upon their return to the office.

At RCS, we are very proud to share ongoing legal advice from our RCS Influencer, Trent Cotney and encourage roofing professionals to attend the 40th Anniversary Seminar to listen to Trent in person.

For more information and to register for the seminar, please contact Alison LaValley or Anne Schroeder at (847) 299-9092 or visit the NRLRC Annual Seminar website or www.nrlrc.net.
