Course overview 

With increasing popularity, metal roofs are the ideal host for mounting solar photovoltaics (PV), as the seams or ribs of the roof act as inherent (and cost-free) “rails,” providing a rail-less, DirectAttach™ system. 

However, adapting to new technologies can be daunting, especially when it comes to rail-less PV mounting. A few small shifts in thinking can produce huge savings in labor, materials and logistics. 

This course will take you from a basic understanding of why metal roofing is the ideal platform for mounting solar PV to understanding what attachments are right for your project. We’ll guide you through the best practices in design, layout and installation for both rail-and rail-less solar applications. 

Once you have passed the final exam, you’ll receive the S-5! Solar and Metal Roofing certificate of completion. You’ll have the confidence to equip your customers with the right purchasing decisions and — if you work in the field — this in-depth knowledge will make you the go-to solar installer for metal roofing.

With a background in steel erection and metal roof installation, he stays actively engaged as a field technician working shoulder-to-shoulder with contractors and installers.
