Speed and simplicity: The installation solution contractors need

All Weather Insulated Panel’s OneDek system provides the innovation needed to address the industry’s challenges.

According to Gary Sweeney, the director of low slope roofing for All Weather Insulated Panels (AWIP), the commercial roofing industry can sometimes be slow to adapt to new innovations. “The commercial roofing industry is very old school,” Gary told Megan Ellsworth in a recent episode of MetalCast™. “There's a bit of stubbornness to adopt new methodologies.”

That’s where AWIP comes in. As a highly technical innovator in design for the construction industry, AWIP focuses on the advancement of utilizing foam composite materials in insulated metal panels. With three state-of-the-art facilities in Vacaville, California; Little Rock, Arkansas; and East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, AWIP is strategically positioned to meet energy, environmental and economic challenges that face the North American building industry.

With 10 years in the traditional built-up roofing space, Gary describes himself as “painfully aware” of the issues that contractors face, from lengthy installation times to a lack of skilled labor. “No one has really been able to crack the code on the installation innovation, and that's exactly what AWIP has done with OneDek®,” Gary explained.

OneDek® is an insulated panel made with AWIP’s InnovaCELL™ technology engineered to streamline installations. With a vapor barrier, insulation and cover board all encapsulated into a single component, OneDek requires fewer materials and steps than traditional systems that typically take five to six steps to complete.

“You screw down the OneDek into the joists, skin it with a TPO or a PVC membrane, mechanically attach, fully adhere and you're done,” Gary explained. “A OneDek system can be installed in the third of the time that it takes to install a traditional system. It's all about speed and simplicity.”

For contractors with limited time, resources and labor to complete jobs on schedule, OneDek offers a ready fix. “OneDek is the solution to the issues that commercial roofing presents,” Gary stated. “It's not an alternative; it’s the evolution of roofing.”
