Spark Solar is the January R-Club Roofer of the Month

Spark January Roofer of the Month
February 14, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.

By Alec Doniger.

Delivering excellence, Spark Solar is dedicated to advancing solar and providing commercial properties with solar power.

Operating out of “all corners” of Texas, Spark Solar is a company whose mission is to expand the power of solar across Texas. To celebrate their recognition, Megan Ellsworth sat down with the owner of Spark Solar, Seth Wells. Together, they discuss what sets Spark Solar apart, the changes the company has seen, and what the future entails for the business.

Having worked in home sales since age 19, Seth has been a salesperson for 14 years. He knows how to educate, inform and work with all types of customers. Now, more than ever, Seth uses his skills to market Spark Solar’s shift from residential to commercial roofing. This shift was made, in part, due to the difficult times the pandemic thrust upon businesses worldwide – employees leaving to take care of loved ones or businesses having to pay employees less. “So, we morphed the company and we've been transitioning and changing into a commercial solar organization and that's been going really, really well for us,” Seth explains.

Now, 80% of the projects are commercial, and the company has been thriving in this market. They still do some residential projects, but they focus on their commercial and detach and resets services.

As they are making this transition, the team at Spark Solar is committed to maintaining two things: their tightknit team and advancing solar in the industry. “We celebrate that we’re a small company. Any new thing that's happening or our new opportunity, new venture, we're trying to keep the company condensed and small the best we can and share responsibility instead of delegating everything out to a new hire and it's working... it’s easier to communicate,” Seth says. “Secondly, we celebrate that we’re advancing solar. I think that’s something that everybody's passionate about.”

Being a small company gives Spark Solar a more intimate and personal experience for their customers as they continue advancing renewable technologies in the roofing industry.
