How drones are reshaping the future of roofing, one flight at a time.

Forget ladders and long guesswork. In today’s roofing world, the smartest tool on the job might not have handles, but it might have propellers. As drones soar into the spotlight, they're not just offering a new perspective; they’re redefining how roofers inspect, document and deliver. This shift isn’t about novelty. Here at Eagle Roofing Products we share why it’s about speed, safety, precision and trust, all lifted to new heights.

This modern-day technology speeds up the roof inspection process by allowing roofers to quickly and safely capture detailed imagery of the entire roof from multiple angles. They can then pinpoint broken tiles, damaged shingles, leaks or any other areas that may need repairs with remarkable precision. The high resolution and aerial views offered by drones give roofers a clearer understanding of the structure, allowing them to create more accurate repair estimates and identify potential problems early on. This not only improves the quality of service but also helps prevent larger, more expensive issues down the line.

While drones enhance the inspection process, they don’t replace the need for roofers to conduct manual inspections. Many contractors still walk the roof to assess specific areas up close, but using a drone allows them to gather critical information more quickly before setting foot on the structure. By combining aerial imagery with hands-on expertise, roofers can streamline the inspection process, generate faster repair estimates and improve overall efficiency — leading to quicker service and higher customer satisfaction.

In addition, the ability to capture and store aerial footage gives roofers valuable documentation for their records and client communications. Homeowners can see exactly what needs attention, which makes for a more transparent and trustworthy experience.

Drones are incredibly useful for reroofs and new construction installations as well. We spoke with Brian Murray at Legacy Contracting Solutions, Inc. in Palm Beach, Florida who has his drone pilot license and takes all of the company’s drone footage.

When asked how drones have aided their business, Brian said, “Drones capture the entire scope of work for all our roofing projects in ultra high definition. They really come in handy for documentation, tile/roof inspections and marketing. To truly showcase the transformative impact of our roofing services, I capture drone footage before and after each installation. This visual documentation allows our clients to witness the remarkable change in their home’s appearance, highlighting the quality and craftsmanship that defines Legacy Contracting Solutions.”

Ultimately, drones are changing the way roofers work, making inspections, repairs and installations more comprehensive while helping contractors deliver exceptional service to homeowners.
