Nestled in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia’s Spring Garden Road District, the City Centre Atlantic (CCA) proved a challenging site for a roof replacement. This district has seen many transformations over the years, but today’s mixed-use neighborhood now draws crowds at any time of day, whether you’re looking for a quiet coffee shop for your remote job or searching for some nightlife. It is well known as a cultural and major commercial area hailing a number of gathering places and encouraging foot traffic.
The CCA stands tall as one of these gathering places. Offering both office space and urban retail options, it sits on top of an underground parking garage and covers 31,600 square feet. Originally constructed in 1989, luxury apartments were added to the structure with a project that was finished in 2012. Due to its location in a congested urban block, space became a barrier to this project, having limited space to store materials, and essentially no access to the roof from any side streets.
Requesting a proven system that would remain durable over time, the owner contracted IC Roofing and Sheet Metal Limited to overcome the obstacles with the best roofing option. IC Roofing and Sheet Metal quickly looked to products manufactured by IKO Industries for their impressive weather protection and commitment to quality assurance.
See which IKO roofing system provided the solution to this challenging site in Halifax, Nova Scotia in IKO’s case study.
