Sika Roofing & Waterproofing has announced the 2025 winners of its Projects of the Year competition, recognizing outstanding achievement by approved applicators across the country. This year’s honorees reflect the range of challenges contractors face in commercial roofing and waterproofing, from high-traffic public spaces and active healthcare environments to green roofs, rooftop playgrounds and complex urban towers. Contractors submitted entries in categories including Low Slope New Construction, Low Slope Re-Roof, Steep Slope, Waterproofing and Sustainability.
At Francis M. Leahy Elementary School in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Greenwood Industries helped transform an unused rooftop into a functional playground. With limited ground space available, the project used a Hydrotech protected rooftop assembly and a Sarnafil 80-mil polyvinyl chloride (PVC) adhered system to create safe recreation areas while protecting the school below.
In Bentonville, Arkansas, Ozark Green Roofs installed a two-acre living roof at Alice L. Walton School of Medicine. The system blends native and adaptive plantings, outdoor learning areas, gathering spaces and stormwater management into a roof designed to support wellness, education and long-term performance.
Heritage Restoration delivered extensive roofing and waterproofing work at South Station Tower in Boston, Massachusetts, spanning 29 roofs and terraces across 22 levels. The mixed-use tower required precise detailing across pool decks, terraces, green roofs, balconies and other complex assemblies.
Utah Tile and Roofing was recognized for its work on the Church Office Building Plaza renovation in Salt Lake City, where more than 200,000 square feet of plaza deck received Hydrotech waterproofing and related protection, drainage and garden roof components.
Other winners included Roofing Solutions LLC for its Sikalastic liquid-applied roof at Lady of the Sea Hospital in Cut Off, Louisiana, and Eagle Restoration and Contracting Inc. for the Wilkes Passage Condominiums terrace restoration in Boston.
Together, the winning projects highlight the technical skill, coordination and craftsmanship required to deliver durable roofing and waterproofing systems in demanding environments.
