When a California developer of high-rise, multi-use buildings called on Shell Roofing Solutions’ team to develop a roofing specification for a new roofing project in Santa Monica, California, they knew they made the right call. 

The Shell Roofing team followed the guidance of in-house experts to provide product specification and details to support a long-term warranty by a leading manufacturer. Furthermore, Shell Roofing worked with the architect to develop a roof design with high efficiency and effective slopes to move water off the roof.  

Once the buildings were constructed and the substrates were ready for roofing, the Shell Roofing team got to work on laying out a complex tapered insulation system to ensure proper drainage slope. The roof was installed to not only comply with local and state roofing codes, but to exceed them.  

A single-ply TPO fleece-back fully adhered roofing system was installed for long-term roof performance. Adding multiple layers of insulation, plus a layer of white reflective single-ply TPO membrane helps to reduce the internal temperature of the building and reduces the energy consumption by up to 40%. The building owners expect a great return on investment and a faster payback period with the reduction of energy consumption.
