Learn how having the right team and support makes all the difference for this roofer.

With 20 years of expertise behind them, Kudu Roofing expertly handles both commercial and residential roofing projects throughout Colorado. The family-owned business is staffed by roofing specialists dedicated to achieving optimum results for their clients. As vice president of the company, Paul Mumford is especially dedicated to working with materials partners, like Rocky Mountain Snow Guards, who help Kudu Roofing provide their customers with the best roofing results possible.

Tell us about the geography you install roofing in and what kind of snow retention systems are needed for your customers.

We cover pretty much the whole state of Colorado including the mountains. This means we need to have all options on the table for snow retention on every roof type and at all elevations. Aesthetics, as well as functionality, play a major concern on most of our projects.

What type of roofing material do you tend to install most, and what’s your favorite “go to” snow retention products that you use repeatedly with that material?

Slate and concrete tile are probably our most-installed systems. We use a lot of Rocky Mountain Snow Guards products for these roofs. Snow guard systems, No-Flash snow fences and quite a bit of the S-5!® ColorGard Bar Style snow guard systems for our metal roofing systems are also installed a lot by our teams.

What’s the most challenging/interesting roofing project you’ve ever done where a snow retention system was involved?

There’s this one job in Aspen with a very custom install with clay roof tiles. There are different designed tiles put on in a pattern to give the roof a very unique look. The solar mounts had to be designed to hit the coursing of tile perfectly ahead of any install, which kept things interesting. We used the No-Flash 2-Pipe fence-style system from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards to be able to tie-in to the clay roof system. We’re really proud of how that project ended up coming together.

How often do you use the free layout and quote snow retention service from Rocky Mountain Snow Guards when you’re working on a roofing project?

Some of our roof plans are very technical and steep. We use Rocky Mountain Snow Guard’s free design service quite a bit because we prefer to leave it to the pros to design the best system to present to our customers. This way we all have the peace of mind of knowing that it’s going to function as needed.

What keeps your company coming back to Rocky Mountain Snow Guards for your snow retention needs?

Kudu Roofing has been in business for about 20 years. We definitely value our partners in the industry. We’ve been growing alongside Rocky Mountain Snow Guards and have developed a great working relationship. They’re always dependable. We have the type of work that can be very challenging. Having the right team and support company around you makes all the difference in our success.
